Charles River Labs Bio
In 1947, Dr. Henry Foster established a one-man laboratory in Boston, overlooking the Charles River. Today, Charles Rivers looks like a very different company, but in realizing Dr. Henry Foster’s vision, the company remains committed to collaboration, responsibility and leadership within the global research community.
In the last six decades, Charles River has seen technologies advance and new diseases emerge. The one-man laboratory has evolved into a worldwide support network, allowing the company to act as a steadfast partner to its clients, from discovery to lot release testing. By carefully cultivating its portfolio, the company has become a continuous strategic effort in anticipating tomorrow’s drug development needs.
Today, Charles River has over 10,000 employees worldwide with a global presence in 70 facilities in 18 countries. The company is a leader in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, government and academic organizations throughout the world.
Charles River, is passionate about its role in improving the quality of people’s lives. The company’s mission, excellent science and strong sense of purpose guides the company in all that they do, and it approaches each day with the knowledge that their work helps to improve the health and well-being of families, friends and colleagues across the globe. The collective efforts as One Charles River is the key to the company’s success, and knowing that every job and every person is important. Every day, each employee strives to make a difference in whatever way they can.
