What is eduroam?
Ashland University is a member of this worldwide wireless service which is comprised of a consortium of academic institutions. The purpose is to facilitate network access among visitors between participating institutions by extending the network to allow visitors to use the login credential issued by their home institution. This alleviates the need for visitors to obtain guest access or for hosting institutions to issue temporary guest access to visitors who have the credentials to access the eduroam network.
Where can I eduroam?
eduroam is available 24/7 in thousands of locations across over 70 countries worldwide. From campuses to coffee shops. In order to use eduroam, both your home and visiting institutions must participate.

Is eduroam safe?
eduroam is based on the most secure encryption and authentication standards in existence today. Its security by far exceeds typical commercial hotspots. The user credentials are kept secure because eduroam does not share them with the site you’re visiting. Instead they are forwarded to the user’s home institution, where they can be verified and validated.Find out about eduroam security here.
Does eduroam monitor or filter access?
eduroam provides authenticated network access at any location where the service is enabled.
Each participating organization offering network access to authenticated users is able to apply its own filtering policies as long as it is clearly informing users about the filtering rules.
