Assessment at Ashland University
Assessment is a systematic, on-going process of collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and acting on information related to the goals and outcomes developed to support the central mission of the university; student learning and success. It answers the questions:
- What are we trying to do?
- How well are we doing it?
- How can we improve what we are doing?
Where does Assessment Occur
The assessment process includes identifying areas of strength as well as areas that need improvement at curricular, co-curricular, and institutional levels. Assessment examines how the various components of the institution function together as a whole in order to fulfill the University’s Mission. All assessment activities focus on improving programs and services and increasing student success and institutional quality. Institutional effectiveness is concerned with determining if all of the components of the university are contributing to achieving set goals, including support of student learning and development.
