Important Commencement Information

What you should know before Commencement

  1. All graduates picking up caps and gowns and tassles at the Bookstore will need a picture I.D. If someone else is picking up your cap/gown, they will need written permission from you. There is a $7.75 UPS charge to have your cap/gown sent to your home or work. Extra tassels are $5. Custom printed announcements, Ashland diploma frames and University commemorative rings are available at the Ashland University Bookstore. Orders can be phoned in or placed online at www.ashlandbookstore.com. Please call the Bookstore at 1.800.547.1199 if you have any questions.

On Commencement Day, the Bookstore, located in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center, will be open from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

  2. Diplomas will be mailed beginning two weeks after commencement. All accounts with the Business Office, Library, Campus Store and Dean of Students must be cleared before your diploma will be mailed to you. For students who have unmet financial obligations, final grades will not be reported and diplomas will be held. For any questions or comments with regard to your diploma, please contact the Registrar’s Office located in Founders Hall or at regis@ashland.edu.

  3. All Graduates should complete the Graduation Survey prior to Commencement. The survey invitations will be emailed to all graduating students 4 weeks prior to graduation. All students who complete the survey will receive a 25% off one regularly-priced item at the AU Bookstore (graduation regalia excluded). Respondents will also be placed into a drawing for Alumni and Handshake packages; and one winner will receive a free AU diploma frame from the AU Bookstore.
  4. HONORS -- Latin honors bestowed upon graduates and listed in the Commencement program are based solely on Ashland University achievements. These honors will reflect total grade points averages through December 2021 and will be recalculated for the final status on the official transcript.

  5. Parking for individuals with disabilities will be available in the Niss Athletic Center parking lot off of Moss Hill Drive (see map). Students with questions regarding accommodations for a disability should contact the Registrar’s Office at 419-289-5633.
