A Note from the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences

It’s a big, complex world out there, a world where yesterday’s rules and strategies may no longer apply. You need to prepare yourself in order to succeed.

The College of Arts & Sciences is a vibrant academic community at the heart of the university undergraduate experience. Grounded in liberal arts, students prepare for careers in science, business, the arts, education, communication, government and service organizations as well as for professional programs and graduate school. With a curriculum designed to meet the needs of the 21st century, students majoring in the College of Arts & Sciences:

  • Are members of an intellectual community of student and faculty scholars
  • Work one-on-one with faculty members to conduct research leading to presentation at professional conferences and publication
  • Participate in artistic exhibitions, recitals and performances
  • Travel with faculty members as part of a course or may elect to complete an intesive study abroad experience
  • Impact the local community through internships, field placements and service learning projects
  • Participate in the marching band, WRDL, The Collegian, theater productions, TV20, choir and numerous departmental organizations
  • Develop life-long relationships with faculty members and one another
  • Are prepared to contribute fully in the global community
