JDM Media Students, Faculty and Staff cover WBB National Championship game

The Journalism and Digital Media department continued a tradition of sending student, staff and faculty to cover the very successful AU Women's Basketball team at the 2023 National Championship game held in Dallas. This year was the fifth time that JDM sent a converged media group to report on an NCAA National Championship event. This year, Director of Broadcasting and Operations John Skrada, WRDL General Manager and Professional Instructor of JDM Derek Wood, WRDL/Collegian/AUTV 20 Sports Director Cade Cracas, AUTV 20 News Producer and Collegian Sports Editor Ethan Jenkins and Collegian Features Editor Brynn Meisse provided excellent wall-to-wall media coverage for AUTV 20, The Collegian and 88.9 WRDL. What that means is you will be immerced in converged coursework and applied labs in writing, research and story development across multiple media platforms. You will develop video and digital still camera shooting aesthetics, video and image editing techniques using content creation software and develop your performance-based skills like anchoring and reporting,

Dean's Scholarship

Dean's Scholarship for the College of Arts and Sciences

The Dean's Scholarship was created to enhance the undergraduate academic experience for new first-time and transfer students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences in the following disciplines: Computer Science/Cybersecurity, Journalism and Digital Media, the Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry) and Psychology.

Benefits include a merit-based, renewable scholarship of $1,500 "stacked" on other merit awards received. In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in unique academic communities created around engagement with faculty and a focus on career coaching and preparation.

To qualify, applicants must have a minimum high school or transfer GPA of 3.5. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years with a GPA of 3.0.

Minimum Required High School / Transfer GPA: 3.50

Scholarship Amount: $1,500

Application Criteria: Formal application (the link to the application will be in your portal), essay and interview. Students must be admitted to the major with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher to qualify.

Renewal Criteria: AU GPA 3.00 or greater and maintain JDM Major

Application Deadline: The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until all scholarships have been awarded. The deadline for priority consideration is March 1, 2022.
