What to Expect
This degree program will provide a path to achieve baccalaureate degrees if your interests lie in multiple areas and/or if your accumulated semester credit hours may not otherwise combine to qualify you for one of AU's existing baccalaureate degrees. The Multidisciplinary Studies program enables you to pursue a cohesive set of courses from two different disciplinary areas in substitution for the traditional major. In addition to gaining a solid foundation in the content of two different disciplines, you’ll also learn how to integrate the knowledge you gain from each of your chosen disciplines to your future career.
How it Works
You will work with your academic advisor who will coordinate with the appropriate faculty MDS Liaisons from each of the cognate areas to design your Multidisciplinary Studies Major. The MDS major is offered both on-campus and online. Your major will need to total at least 120 hours and include the Institutional Baccalaureate Degree Requirements (core) PLUS:
