Exploring Human Behavior

Are you interested in the science of human behavior or a career helping others? One of the most popular college majors, Psychology, provides a glimpse into human thought and behavior. You’ll develop a foundational understanding of the theories, principles, methodologies, research findings and applications of psychology while getting personalized attention from faculty dedicated to helping you succeed.

The Psychology Department offers both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree to provide you with flexibility, depending on your career objective.

In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in unique academic communities with a focus on career coaching and preparation.

Research

Students are encouraged to take an active part in departmental research efforts. Faculty and students alike regularly publish and present research at regional, national and international conferences. In recent years, our students have made more than 90 conference presentations.

Each semester, psychology majors and minors serve as research assistants for department faculty. A number of students even conduct their own independent research projects. Those who do often enroll in PSYC 310 Advanced Research in Psychology, where they conduct, analyze and interpret the results of a semester-long research project of their choosing.

Strong research skills are a benefit regardless of the career path students take after graduation. The research and scholarship our students have completed is one of the main reasons they are so successful in entering graduate programs after they earn their degree.
