Research Opportunities
Students majoring in psychology are encouraged to become involved in research in our department, and faculty and students alike regularly publish and present research at regional, national and international conferences. In the past ten years our students have made over 90 conference presentations at local, regional, and national conferences, in cities such as Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Washington, DC., and Pittsburgh. Each semester psychology majors/minors serve as research assistants for department faculty, and a number students conduct their own independent research projects. Many of our students enroll in PSYC 310 (Advanced Research in Psychology), where they conduct, analyze and interpret the results of a semester-long research project of their choosing.
Students should keep in mind that strong research skills are a benefit regardless of the career path they take after graduation. We are convinced that the research and scholarship our students have completed is one of the main reasons why they are so successful in entering graduate programs after they earn their B.S. or B.A. degree. In recent years, our students have been accepted into graduate programs in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Higher Education Administration, Forensic Psychology, Social Work, Law, Speech and Language Pathology and School Psychology, to name a few.
In fact, our students have done such incredible things with their research that the university ran a spotlight on our faculty/student scholarship.

We offer education at several levels: an associate degree, a minor paired with another bachelor's degree major and credentialing/licensure in Ohio for addictions counseling.
