Dean's Scholarship
Dean’s Scholarship for Finance Majors
The Dean’s Scholarship was created to enhance the undergraduate academic experience for new first-time and transfer students enrolled in the finance major in the College of Business and Economics. It is a merit-based, renewable scholarship of $1,500 that can be “stacked” on top of other merit awards received. Students also participate in unique opportunities, such as the student-managed investment fund – the Eagle Investment Group, career-related events, attending special lecture series or acting as a COBE scholar ambassador.
To qualify, applicants must have a minimum high school or transfer GPA of 3.5. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, with participation in the Eagle Investment Group in the fourth year. The Eagle Investment Group experience provides Bloomberg Market Concepts certification, preparation for the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam and investment portfolio management experience that gives graduates an advantage when seeking employment.
Scholarship Sponsor: Dennis R. Witherspoon, Ph.D., CFP® - Assistant Professor of Finance; Director, Eagle Investment Group
Minimum Required High School/Transfer GPA: 3.5
Scholarship Amount: $1,500
Application: Submit a formal application (the link to the application will be in your portal), essay and interview.
Renewal Criteria: AU GPA of 3.0 or higher, maintain a finance major in the College of Business and Economics; senior year students are eligible to be admitted to the Eagle Investment Group course in fall and spring semesters.
Application Deadline: The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until all scholarships have been awarded. The deadline for priority consideration is March 1, 2022.
After you have applied for admission and been accepted, you will receive a link to access the application for the Dean's Scholarship within the student portal.
