The Dwight Schar College of Education’s Bachelor’s Plus program is designed for those individuals who already have a baccalaureate degree and have decided that they would like to become teachers. Rather than completing another degree, they work towards one of more than 15 teacher licensure areas available through the college.

Ashland University's Bachelor’s Plus programs offer you…

Quality Programs

The Bachelor’s Plus program has been around for more than 20 years. We have the experience to make sure that students are well prepared to be effective teachers. Additionally, the College has been approved by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) for more than 35 years and our programs have been approved by the Ohio Board of Regents.

Convenient Locations

With an eye towards convenience, we offer the Bachelor’s Plus programs at the Ashland campus, as well as at regional centers located in Columbus and Elyria. We recognize that Bachelor’s Plus students have unique needs. Balancing classes, family and work can be challenging so we offer a curriculum that is offered during the evening hours and throughout the summer months. Arranged field practicums in area schools provide experiences with students and mentor teachers that prepare you for your teaching career. Courses are provided at the centers, online and in hybrid (combination of face-to-face and classroom) formats.

Personalized Attention

Ashland’s “Accent on the Individual” is how we do business. From the initial interview through completion of the program, our Bachelor’s Plus program directors and advisors are there. Housed at each of the three locations, they work individually with students so that students take only what they need to meet the requirements for a given license. We offer “value-added” components: Praxis II workshops, small class sizes, experienced supervisors and faculty who understand and value adult learners.
