Scholarships
The Skip Vosler and Bill Jones Athletic Training Scholarships
This is a private scholarship endowed by a former Athletic Training Student of Skip and Bill. The money comes directly from the donor. Each scholarship is worth $1,000.00.
Criteria:
- Formally admitted into the Athletic Training Program
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Desire to continue in the Athletic Training Profession
- Award is based on financial need as well. Scholarship athletes are excluded.
- Selection is made by the Athletic Training Faculty and Staff and awarded in the Fall.
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
The AU ATP will provide the student a learning environment that offers the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to become an entry-level athletic trainer.
Objectives:
- Upon completion of the program, the student will demonstrate the synthesis of knowledge from athletic training and a liberal education as the basis for clinical judgment, reflective practice and decision making.
- Upon completion of the program, the student will demonstrate meaningful engagement in active academic study and the facilitation of theory into practice transference by utilizing athletic training knowledge, skills and abilities effectively in the Field Experiences.
Goal 2
The AU ATP will provide the student the ability to develop and apply leadership and decision-making skills that include ethics and self-reflection in the application of the foundational behaviors of professional practice in the service of the profession, university and community.
Objectives:
- Upon completion of the program, the student will demonstrate an entry-level understanding of the Foundational Behaviors of Professional Practice.
- Upon completion of the program, the student will demonstrate leadership development for the profession.
- Upon completion of the program, the student will demonstrate meaningful engagement in service to the profession, university and members of the community.
Benchmarks:
- 80% of students will score an 80% or higher on the Exit Portfolio in ATR 420 according to the Portfolio Rubric.
- 80% of students will score an 80% or higher on the Self-Assessment evaluation in ATR 420.
Goal 3
The AU ATP will provide the student the ability to promote the importance of evidence and provide the tools for understanding basic research and evaluation techniques. Students will develop skills in the facilitation of theory into practice transference by utilizing athletic training knowledge, skills and abilities.
Objectives:
- Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to select current theory and evidenced-based knowledge regarding the competencies of athletic training education to guide and teach patients, families and populations.
- Upon completion of the program, the student will demonstrate meaningful engagement in the application of scholarship related to athletic training.
- Upon completion of the program, the student will commit to the responsibility of academic, professional and ethical growth and self-reflection in contributing to the profession.
Benchmarks:
- 80% of 3rd year students will score a 90% or better on their Final Semester Evaluation in ATR 472.
- 80% of 3rd year students will have submitted and have accepted an abstract for presentation at a National, Regional, State, or Ashland University Professional Conference.
- 80% of 3rd year students will score an 80% or better on the End of Semester Reflection in ATR 472.
