Course Description:

What does it really mean for ALL learners to access the general curriculum? Teachers must be able to utilize the strategies grounded in research to provide access for all learners in implementing rigorous instruction. This course will utilize for leaders and/or teachers to access OCALI's General Access to the Curriculum Chapters central to this ideal supported by Ohio's Plan to Raise Literacy Instruction, Each Child Means Each Child and for this course independently access the OCALI module chapter 5 titled "Reading Research in Language and Literacy." The resources and documents will be provided as the text for this "video study" and will also be supported by 2 face to face zoom sessions to enhance your knowledge of structured literacy and science of reading applications from the instructor.  The project will be a record of your learning/reflections and action steps based on your new learning. This course does NOT count for required Dyslexia PD hours, but can enhance a teacher's knowledge of how the guidebook is applied to all special populations to improve literacy outcomes!  Work at your own pace and plan with the instructor for the face to face meets.  Carrie Wood has 25 years of general education and special and gifted education classroom experience and literacy coaching experience, including work at the state, regional and local levels. 

Within 24 hours of registering for a PD course, you'll be able to access your student account using Self-Service Ashland. There, you'll find printable financial statements and grade reports, plus a link for requesting transcripts, once your grades have posted.
