Advanced curriculum lies within the common curriculum implied by Ohio’s Learning Standards. This is the academic curriculum—English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages and all the rest.
Advancement in the common curriculum, then, is relative to students of a “given age” and to how particular school districts construct “typical circumstances.” The situation is fluid because many school districts already use the common curriculum flexibly.
