UNDRSTND/IMP COMM CORE

Welcome to Understanding & Implementing Common Core Standards. This is an interactive computer-based instruction course designed to give you a deeper understanding of the rationale for and structure of this particular standards-based framework.  In this course you will learn a number of factors that contributed to the overall design of the Common Core Standards as well as practical pedagogical approaches that will support practitioners working toward deeper implementation.  We will reflect on the instructional "shifts" emphasized throughout the Common Core Standards and contextualize the shifts based on the diverse population of students course participants serve.  Understanding & Implementing Common Core Standards will also provide connections to a variety of instructional considerations that will support implementation regardless of educational context.  Practitioners will be provided opportunities to reflect on current practice and the degree to which they align with the Common Core Standards as well as with colleagues across a wide range of settings implementing these standards. 

ADDITIONAL NOTES: 

All VESi courses receive letter grades.  Please see Course Syllabus Addendum for grading information.  All VESi courses are tablet compatible! 

There is a two week minimum for course completion. For your maximum time, Ashland's academic calendar is September 1st through August 31st each year and you are required to complete your course within that academic calendar. Also, please be certain to refer to the attachments that are sent with your course link(s) as those items contain important information regarding exam score and essay requirements. 

 Within 24-48 hours of your registration you will receive an email from your course content provider that contains your course access information. 

Also within 24 hours of registering for a PD course, you'll be able to access your student account using Self-Service Ashland. There, you'll find printable financial statements and grade reports, plus a link for requesting transcripts, once your grades have posted. Instructions for establishing or resetting your login can be found HERE.
