IMSE Comp. Practicum
Teachers will actively participate in online learning to further develop their understanding of IMSE's Orton-Gillingham methodology. Participants will put the methodology into practice through the administration of assessments, creation of assessment reports, recommendation of instruction, and implementation of lesson plans that show mastery and fidelity of the method. Topics of study will include dyslexia, understanding and using the IMSE planning template, student differentiation, phonological awareness, phonics, encoding/decoding, irregular words, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and administering a variety of assessments to guide instruction and show growth. Class activities will include observation videos, lesson plan submissions, assessment analysis reports (initial and final), learning outcomes, and required readings from current books and articles. Much of the learning will occur through discussions and one-on one feedback from the instructor.
