Topic: Curriculum and Instruction
Instructor: Jodi Rath
Method: Online (OWRK)
Sponsor: AU Columbus Center
Center Offered: Columbus Professional Dev

Course Description:

This course will focus on ways to maintain teacher retention by offering practices, some SEL methods turned inward for the teacher, teaching in the moment, setting realistic expectations, ways to streamline grading, solving problems quickly and efficiently, building communities, and setting boundaries. The work-life balance is real, especially in the education industry, where more than 30% of new teachers left their school, and 26% of teachers within 3-7 years of experience left, compared to 17-20% of more experienced teachers in the 2022-2023 school year per The National Center for Education Statistics site. Educators will be offered ways to relieve stress and relax more often during their school day and learn some practices for how to leave work at school when it’s necessary to find balance.
