Kidwatching 2.0 (1CR)
Course Description:
Educators have been studying students since the one-room schoolhouse. Academically, we watch what students know and are able to do in relation to the standards, learning targets, and success criteria outlined in our curriculum calendars and units of study. We can take note of students’ understandings and misconceptions about big ideas and essential learnings as we model, guide, and watch them try new things. Socially, we kidwatch to understand how students interact with others in the classroom, grade level, school, home and ultimately the greater community. This course will focus on kidwatching 2.0—a process that can be used across grade levels and content areas. Kidwatching is the purest form of data. Kidwatching gives us intel, providing us timely assessment data that can guide us in designing and facilitating learning opportunities that meet students individual and collective interests, passions, curiosities, and needs.
