Through the Eyes of Butterflies-Creating a Monarch Butterfly Way Station
Course Description:
Monarch butterflies aren’t just beautiful—they’re essential pollinators, and they need our help! Creating a Monarch Butterfly Way Station is a hands-on, interdisciplinary course designed to help you bring conservation to life in your classroom. You’ll learn how to design and build a Monarch way station with your students while exploring the ecological importance of Monarchs, the threats they face, and how habitat restoration can make a difference. This hybrid course blends flexible, self-paced online learning with an in-person session at Monarch Park Butterfly Way Station in Albany, Ohio. You’ll get real-world experience in creating a sustainable habitat and leave with practical tools to engage your students in environmental stewardship. Best of all? The course aligns with Ohio’s Social Studies and Science Standards, making it easy to incorporate lessons on ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation into your curriculum. It’s hands-on, meaningful learning with a real impact—for you, your students, and the environment. Join us and turn your classroom into a hub for pollinator conservation!
