PLTW Gateway 5 Day (1CR)

Topic: Curriculum and Instruction
Instructor: Courtney Kessler
Method: Hybrid
Sponsor: AU Columbus Center
Center Offered: Columbus Professional Dev

Course Description:

The PLTW Gateway 5-day training is an immersive professional development experience designed to equip middle school educators with the technical skills, instructional strategies, and curriculum knowledge needed to deliver specialized STEM modules to students in grades 6–8. Over the five days, participants dive deeply into a selected Gateway module—such as Design & Modeling, Automation & Robotics, or App Creators—through hands-on, project-based learning. Educators will practice facilitating the student experience, explore the underlying STEM concepts, and collaborate with peers to develop implementation plans. This training ensures teachers leave prepared to deliver engaging, career-connected instruction that inspires students to think critically, solve real-world problems, and explore future STEM pathways.

Ashland University is proud to partner with Project Lead The Way to offer graduate credit for their outstanding professional development experiences. We are excited to support educators who engage with PLTW’s high-quality, hands-on learning opportunities by providing the option to earn Ashland graduate credit upon successful completion.

To be eligible for graduate credit, participants must complete all required coursework through PLTW and submit a copy of their official completion certificate to ckessler@ashland.edu.
