Course Description:

Computer Science Essentials – Part II Educator Training prepares high school teachers to deliver the more advanced units of PLTW’s Computer Science Essentials course. This training builds upon the foundational skills introduced in Part I and dives deeper into modular programming, functions, data structures, cybersecurity, and final student projects. Teachers learn how to facilitate student exploration of real-world problems through projectbased learning while supporting increasingly complex computational thinking. Educators also receive guidance on managing capstone-style projects and using formative and summative assessments to measure student growth and mastery.

Ashland University is proud to partner with Project Lead The Way to offer graduate credit for their outstanding professional development experiences. We are excited to support educators who engage with PLTW’s high-quality, hands-on learning opportunities by providing the option to earn Ashland graduate credit upon successful completion.

To be eligible for graduate credit, participants must complete all required coursework through PLTW and submit a copy of their official completion certificate to ckessler@ashland.edu.
