PLTW Intro to Engineering Design Pt I (3CR)

Topic: Curriculum and Instruction
Instructor: Courtney Kessler
Method: Face to Face (WRK)
Sponsor: AU Columbus Center
Center Offered: Columbus Professional Dev

Course Description:

Introduction to Engineering Design – Part I Educator Training equips high school teachers with the core instructional skills and technical knowledge necessary to teach the first half of PLTW’s IED course. This course introduces students to the engineering design process and emphasizes problem-solving through hands-on projects, sketching, measurement, and 3D modeling. During training, educators engage in the same project-based learning experiences students will complete, using tools like Autodesk® Inventor to design and document solutions. Participants leave prepared to facilitate inquiry-based design challenges, integrate engineering practices into instruction, and support all learners in building foundational design and modeling skills.

Ashland University is proud to partner with Project Lead The Way to offer graduate credit for their outstanding professional development experiences. We are excited to support educators who engage with PLTW’s high-quality, hands-on learning opportunities by providing the option to earn Ashland graduate credit upon successful completion.

To be eligible for graduate credit, participants must complete all required coursework through PLTW and submit a copy of their official completion certificate to ckessler@ashland.edu.
