HLC 2023 Year 4 Assurance Review

As part of the Standard Pathway accreditation process with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), Ashland University will host a “Year 4 Assurance Review” March 13-14, 2023. This is a review to ensure that the institution continues to meet HLC criteria for accreditation. This review will be conducted by a team of HLC peer reviewers with a campus visit as part of the review process.  The team will review an assurance argument that addresses a revised set of criteria and demonstrates areas of improvement since the 2018 HLC comprehensive evaluation.

Summer 2020

• July 23, 2020 - Initial identification of criterion team members
• July 28, 2020 -Initial list of criterion team members presented to ELT for review and comment
• July 31, 2020 - Finalized list of criterion team members completed
• August 31, 2020 – Kick off event for Criterion Team Leads and Core Component Leads

Fall 2020

• Begin evidence collection/evaluation (focus on years 18/19, 19/20, 20/21, 21/22 but no official rule about this from HLC)

Spring 2021

• Continued evidence collection/evaluation
• May 2021 – share evidence discovery (review all Core Component evidence gathered, identify holes) by Criterion groups (1 – 5)

Summer 2021

•  Continued evidence collection/begin writing core component drafts

Fall 2021

• Continue writing Core Component drafts

Spring 2022

• Core Component drafts due
  • March 1, 2022 - 1st draft due
  • April 1, 2021 – 2nd draft due 
  • May 1, 2022 - 3rd draft due

Summer 2022

• June 2022 - 1st full draft due
• July 2022 – 2nd full draft due
• August 2022 – 3rd full draft due; out to campus community

Fall 2022

• Oct 1, 2022 – full draft out to Board of Trustees prior to Oct meeting
• Nov – Finalize
• Dec 1, 2022 Final Assurance Argument due
