Interested in learning a new skill? Want to gain certification in CPR/First Aid/AED? Ever consider becoming a lifeguard? The classes are open to members, non-members affiliated with Ashland University and also members of the community. Classes will only be scheduled if there is a group of at least 5 individuals who are interested in obtaining their LG certification.

Lifeguard Training - New (LGT)
Traditional Classroom and Blended Learning courses available! We will be offering a blended learning course, where coursework is completed online at the participant's leisure, and reduce the amount of time spent in person.
This course teaches the skills necessary to guard at an aquatic facility. Successful participants will receive CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard and First Aid Training certifications. Absence from any of the classes will result in a failure of the course and forfeiture of the registration fee. Instructors are not permitted to make up missed material with participants. New Lifeguard Training books and pocket masks are provided to class participants upon registration.
Prerequisite: Pass the Lifeguard Training Prerequisite
Length of class: 20 hours
Classes are held in the classroom and in the pool. Participants are expected to bring a bathing suit and be ready to enter the water each day.
Registration Deadline
Registration and payment must be completed the Friday before the course begins in order to provide enough time to adequately complete all the trainings and tests. Once registered, instructions for the online training will be sent.

Lifeguard Re-certification Course
Successful completion of this course will renew lifeguard training, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. This class will update participants on the new American Red Cross lifeguard CPR/AED guidelines. Participants should be prepared to take a written and water skill test.
Prerequisite: Proof of current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training and First Aid certifications.

Course Materials
Materials will be sent to all registered individuals as a PDF in an email no latter than the Friday before class. The manual will also be available for purchase the day of class for. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet with them to view the manual if they do not wish to purchase a hard copy of the manual.
