The Department of Recreation & Wellness supervises several outdoor facilities including the intramural field, the Kilhefner basketball courts, hammock station, and three sand volleyball courts. When facilities are not occupied by structured programming, the areas are available for open recreational use.
The Brooks G. Hull Intramural Field
The Brooks G. Hull intramural field is located on the corner of King Road and Garmon Avenue. The field is used for intramurals, sport clubs, facility rentals and informal recreation. Intramurals held on the field include flag football, softball and soccer. The intramural field is home to the men's and women's club rugby, soccer and quidditch teams.
Kilhefner Basketball Courts
The court is located behind Kilhefner Hall, off of King Road.
Basketballs are available to be checked out in the Rec Center at the Equipment Checkout Desk. A valid Rec Center membership is needed to check out equipment. All equipment must be returned the same day.
Court usage is on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations are not required.
Sand Volleyball Courts
The Department of Recreation & Wellness maintains three outdoor sand volleyball courts on campus. These courts are used for the intramural sand volleyball league in the fall, the Springfest sand volleyball tournament, facility rentals and informal recreation.
Location of courts
- Behind the Recreation Center (off of Garmon Avenue) - two courts
- Fraternity Circle (off of Broad Street)
Check Out Volleyballs
Sand volleyballs can be checked out inside the Rec Center at the Equipment Checkout Desk. A valid Rec Center membership is needed to check out equipment. All equipment must be returned the same day.
Members can reserve the Rec Center sand volleyball courts for a one hour time period (other courts do not require a reservation). Courts may be reserved up to one day in advance. You can reserve a court by calling the Rec Center at 419.207.6173 or visiting the front desk.
The hammock station is located between Clark and Kilhefner Halls. There are 6 hammocks available to use, with sun shades. Hammocks are installed following spring break and are taken down following fall break (weather permitting). The hammock station was made possible through GEER wellness grant funds.
