The Arthur L. and Maxine Sheets Rybolt Health Sciences and Recreation Center
The Arthur L. and Maxine Sheets Rybolt Sport Sciences and Recreation Center opened on March 13, 2006. Over 6,000 visits were recorded in the first seven days. Approximately $19 million was spent on the facility. Because of their gracious generosity, the Health Science Complex was named for Arthur L. and Maxine Sheets Rybolt.
In the Rec Center, you will find one multi-purpose and two basketball courts, climbing and boulder walls, a golf simulator, two racquetball courts, an aerobics room, a 5,000 square foot fitness center and weight room, a game room and equipment check out area, sauna, hot tub and a juice bar. The second level offers a three lane jogging track that overlooks the gymnasium area.
The health sciences complex houses faculty offices, classrooms and an exercise physiology lab. Located in the lower level is the athletic training facility which offers a state-of-the art hydrotherapy pool for rehabilitation. In addition, the facility also houses the Messerly Natatorium, a 25m pool and diving well, which serves as a home to the intercollegiate women's and men's swimming and diving teams.
The Rec Center is home to the following departments and programs: Department of Recreation & Wellness, Department of Health Sciences and Sport Management, Athletic Training and the Intercollegiate Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving Teams.
