What is a Living and Learning Community?

A Living and Learning Community is a group of students who take several courses together, live near one another and participate in group activities together during their first year on campus.  Research results at programs across the United States show that students who take part in a living and learning community earn higher grades, make friends faster and graduate at higher and faster rates than students who do not participate.

Ashland University offers first year students the opportunity to join an LLC.  The LLCs create an opportunity for students to meet students and faculty within their college of education the day they step onto campus.  Further strengthening student’s opportunities to learn both in and outside the classroom.
