Community Service & AU G.I.V.S.

Our Mission

The mission of AU G.I.V.S. is to provide Ashland University, including students, faculty and staff, with service opportunities to expand their social and educational experiences as well as create an atmosphere of committed lifelong service to others and an understanding of social responsibility and civic engagement in the following areas: Senior Citizens, Hunger and Homeless Relief, Animal Welfare, Youth, Ashland Community (Unity Team), and Veterans & First Responders.

Reach Beyond Your Boundaries to Help Make a Difference

Through Community Service at Ashland University, you will find many opportunities for reaching beyond your boundaries. From feeding the homless at a local breakfast center to visiting with local senior citizens at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Participation in community service gives you the opportunity to have great experiences while making new friends and connecting with others in our local community. We continue to add opportunities through outside organizations to make sure that you have the best chance possible to participate in whatever program interests you! There are so many opportunities to try something new through our office!

Ashland University Gets Involved with Volunteer Service

Do you think you have what it takes to make a difference in the Ashland Community? We do! Get involved with AU G.I.V.S. – Ashland University’s student-led organization that provides awesome service opportunities throughout the Ashland area and beyond.

Examples of programs include dog walking at the local animal shelter, Feed Ashland- one of the largest food drives in Ashland County, and SOAR Respites- a program where volunteers spend an evening playing with kids with disabilities while their parents get a night off! There are also opportunities to help out with a local Father-Daughter Dance, socialize cats up for adoption, make holiday cards for veterans, and so much more!
