K-12 Dyslexia (1CR)
Course Description:
This course will serve as a study on identifying, addressing, screening, and interventions for dyslexia for K-12th grade teachers. Reading is complex; therefore, educators need to be more open-minded about diverse treatment approaches. Particular attention will focus on the types of dyslexia that exist and how to differentiate instruction to meet each type once identified. Research and evidence-based strategies to best meet students with dyslexia will be introduced to help all students of all ages improve their reading skills. An emphasis of the course focuses on the positives of the dyslexic mind and ways to help boost students’ confidence as dyslexic readers.
