COURSE DESCRIPTION
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is based on systematic and intensive training in mindfulness originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. This course is designed to guide participants in learning to practice, integrate, and apply mindfulness in their everyday lives. This course consists of eight, weekly sessions of 2.5 hours, plus an all-day session after the fifth week. Each session starts with a period of mindfulness practice; the main exercises are the body scan, gentle yoga, and sitting meditation. Between classes, participants will practice one of these exercises every day for approximately 45 minutes. In addition, there are specific exercises focused on incorporating mindfulness practice into daily life. Each session focuses on a different theme that is explored through exercises, presentations from the teacher, and dialogue among group participants.
