An Introduction to Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Grades K-12
This course is designed to help teachers learn about the importance and effectiveness of integrating social-emotional learning into classroom instruction. Throughout the course, educators will learn practical ways to incorporate social-emotional learning strategies to improve student well-being, behavior management, and academic achievement in the classroom. These skills help to increase engagement in the classroom and create a safe environment wherein teachers can build and deliver rigorous instruction.
Through the presentation of practical techniques and resources for accessing cutting edge ideas and tools, educators will develop and maintain an academically rigorous, well-managed classroom that validates student’ identities, builds upon student assets, and encourages students as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management, and responsible decision making.
