This course Offers a close read of Dr. Bettina Love's 2023 book Punished for Dreaming, which chronicles how discriminatory decades-old policy has disproportionately and perpetually harmed Black children. Using intersectionality as the operative analytic, registrants will consider how the implications of these policies impact their everyday classroom experiences and explore strategies to mitigate inequity. This asynchronous book study concludes with a virtual keynote delivered by Dr. Love, for which registrants can watch independently or at an exclusive watch party at The Ohio State Department of African American and African Studies Community Extension Center.
