Writing Round-Up

Topic: Curriculum and Instruction
Instructor: Julie Wright
Method: Face to Face (WRK)
Sponsor: AU Columbus Center
Center Offered: Columbus Professional Dev

Course Description:

FACT: Some students struggle with writing - whether it's writing to a prompt or when given choice in writing topics and styles. That's because for some, writing feels more like a chore than a pleasure. Years and years of research has taught us that there are many ways to help students grow as writers. Writing volume is one intervention that is also a really good instructional practice, yielding effective results. In this course we'll explore dozens of ideas that will get kids writing, including books, ideas, and prompts that can be used to launch and sustain writing across content areas and throughout the school year.
