Through the Eyes of Butterflies-Plants, Pollinators and People
Course Description:
In Plants, Pollinators, and People, you’ll learn to teach students about the relationship between native plants, pollinators, and human activity that can help us design conservation practices that actually make a difference. You’ll learn to identify key native and invasive plant species that support Monarch butterfly habitats, and gain a deeper understanding of why pollinators—especially Monarchs—are so crucial for ecosystems, agriculture, and biodiversity. Together, we’ll tackle the environmental challenges Monarchs face today and explore ways to bring this knowledge into your classroom. You’ll walk away with ready-to-use lesson plans for hands-on activities like plant identification, habitat restoration, and pollinator conservation that will engage your students and help create lasting impact in your community. The in-person meeting will include a plant and pollinator identification tour at Monarch Park Butterfly Way Station, our land lab in Albany, Ohio.
