Project Based Learning (PBL) & AI

Topic: Technology
Instructor: Armine Movsisyan
Method: Online (OWRK)
Sponsor: Ed3
Center Offered: ONLINE PROF DEV

Course Description:

This course explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) may expand the possibilities of Project Based Learning (PBL) when pedagogy, inquiry, and human connection remain at the center of the learning experience. Educators examine how AI can function as a thought partner throughout the PBL journey, supporting them as they design meaningful challenges, facilitate inquiry, strengthen reflection, and cultivate learner agency. Across eight modules, educators move through the arc of a Project Based Learning experience, from framing authentic problems and developing driving questions to supporting collaboration, feedback, iteration, and public showcases of learning. Along the way, they explore how AI may support creativity, research, organization, personalization, and real-world connections while also critically examining its limitations, ethical considerations, and evolving role within education. Rather than focusing on any single tool or platform, the course emphasizes adaptable mindsets, reflective practice, and durable design principles that can evolve alongside emerging technologies. Educators leave with a deeper understanding of how to thoughtfully integrate AI into inquiry-driven learning environments while preserving the human relationships, discernment, and responsiveness that meaningful learning requires.
