Social Emotional Learning (SEL) & AI Part 1
Course Description:
Social-emotional learning (SEL) is about the conditions that allow learners to develop as whole people: to understand themselves, manage their emotions, connect with others, and make thoughtful choices. Artificial intelligence is changing the tools educators have to support those conditions. This first course in the 3-part SEL and AI series introduces both, building the foundation for deeper learning and work. Across three modules, participants establish their AI readiness as they explore and develop the mindsets, guardrails, and tool literacy that will guide how they work with AI in their classroom practice and throughout this series. From there, educators will ground themselves in the five CASEL competencies as a framework for working with SEL, examine the necessity for adult SEL and what looks like in practice, and explore emotional intelligence, including its four domains, its relationship to learning outcomes, and what it looks like when AI can genuinely support it. By the end of this course, educators will have the foundational frameworks, responsible AI habits, and professional grounding to move into deeper work.
