Fundamentals of Orff

Topic: Reading/Literacy
Instructor: Katherine Bright
Method: Online (OWRK)
Center Offered: ONLINE PROF DEV

Course Description:

Students are suffering from a lack of voice, choice, and kinesthetic learning in their educational settings. This class will discuss how to allow students to have voice and choice in their learning as well as utilizing kinesthetic learning in a way that deepens student knowledge and increases engagement.

Along with reading, students will have to contribute to weekly class discussions. At the end of the course, there is a final assignment where students must demonstrate learning via essay, a unit plan, or a detailed scripted lesson plan.

Join ACEMM as we delve into the fundamentals of Orff Schulwerk through the lens of Gunild Keetman's text "Elementaria." Participants will have the opportunity to discuss real-life applications of OS and how to ensure all students and teachers reach their full potential within the framework of an elemental music and movement classroom. This class involves weekly Zoom meetings on Thursdays, from 7:30-8:35 PM ET.
