Brain Science & Movemen
Course Description:
Students are not learning as efficiently in our modern culture. Participants will look at brain development and how modern, static instruction does not engage learners or help them acquire learning. Particpants will learn ways to use cross-curricular integration and movement to help remedy this in their own classrooms.
In Brain Science & Movement, participants will read Anne Green Gilbert's "Brain-Compatible Dance Education." Through weekly Zoom discussions, participants will learn about brain development, student-centered pedagogy, and how to apply these concepts to elemental music and movement education.
Along with reading, students will have to contribute to weekly class discussions. At the end of the course, there is a final assignment where students must demonstrate learning via essay, a unit plan, or a detailed scripted lesson plan.
