SEL Trauma (2CR)

Topic: Curriculum and Instruction
Instructor: Jodi Rath
Method: Online (OWRK)
Sponsor: AU Columbus Center
Center Offered: Columbus Professional Dev

Course Description:

This course will focus on the topic of trauma, what it does to the brain, how it impacts learning, and exercises that can be used in classrooms to help students that have been through or are currently experiencing trauma in their lives. Movement is one of the best ways to release stress and pressure caused by both physical and emotional trauma; therefore, it’s important for educators to understand the signs and symptoms of a student who is experiencing trauma so they can offer opportunities to allow students to decompress before, during, and after class as needed to help students be able to focus more clearly on their learning.
