TLC for the PLC
Course Description:
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) have become one of the most influential frameworks for improving teaching and learning in schools. However, successful PLCs require far more than regularly scheduled meetings; they require trust, shared responsibility, collaborative inquiry, effective leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
ED 114: TLC for the PLC is designed to help educators develop the knowledge, skills, and leadership practices necessary to build and sustain highly effective Professional Learning Communities. Participants will explore the essential components of successful PLCs, including building trust, facilitating productive collaboration, analyzing student evidence, engaging in collaborative inquiry, strengthening collective teacher efficacy, developing shared leadership, and creating systems that support continuous improvement.
Throughout the course, participants will engage in authentic learning experiences, including case studies, interactive learning activities, leadership simulations, self-assessments, collaborative planning exercises, application challenges, and reflective activities. These experiences provide opportunities to apply research-based practices in realistic school settings while developing practical leadership skills that can be implemented immediately in schools and districts.
The course is intended for K–12 educators, instructional coaches, teacher leaders, administrators, and other educational professionals who are committed to strengthening collaboration and improving student learning through effective Professional Learning Communities.
