Latin Dance & Culture 1 CREDIT
Course Description:
This intensive field study uses Latin dance pedagogy as the primary lens for K-12 educators to gain deep cultural competency and linguistic fluency. Participants engage in 20+ hours of technical movement practicum per week, where dance is utilized to explore the history of social resilience in post-conflict Colombia and the evolution of rhythmic theory. Conducted primarily in the local language, the curriculum integrates applied linguistics and ethnomusicology to provide teachers with authentic artifacts and kinesthetic learning strategies for their own classrooms.
